The Hopkins Vikings will challenge the Fruitport Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Hopkins came out on top against Parchment on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Vikings blew past the Panthers 12-6. Considering the Vikings have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Gracie Stallard spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Lyla Reynolds was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Cami Hibma, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Hopkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Fruitport entered their tilt with Holton on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Red Devils 14-12. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Trojans, who until this match were averaging 3.59 runs allowed.
Kya Tawney and Brylee Dewitt did most of the damage at the plate: Tawney went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles, while Dewitt went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Madyson Prout was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
Hopkins is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fruitport, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Both Hopkins and Fruitport just can't seem to miss. The Vikings have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Fruitport struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
