Baseball Recap: Herscher Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

While Herscher's victory against Gardner-South Wilmington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Gaige Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Roberts, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Roberts has posted over his last 11 matchups.

Herscher's record now sits at 19-7. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Herscher will square off against Lisle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Gardner-South Wilmington, they will face off against Grant Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
