The Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes will venture away from home to face off against the Jefferson Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Monroe Area 11.3, Jefferson 11.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Monroe Area was able to grind out a solid win over East Hall, taking the game 38-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Purple Hurricanes.
Jitt Carr and Ezra Harrison were among the main playmakers for Monroe Area as the former rushed for 181 yards and three TDs and the latter rushed for 145 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Carr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Monroe Area didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited East Hall to a completion percentage of just 37.5%. The team can thank Kenzi Battle for the heroic effort on defense: he. Monroe Area has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.

Monroe Area didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Mason Scarborough, Parker Sims, and Battle picked up one apiece. Sims also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Another thorn in East Hall's side was Cortavious Scott, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 17 total tackles.
Jefferson never got on the board in their matchup on September 12th, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against West Hall on Friday. They breezed past the Spartans to the tune of 49-6. That 43 point margin sets a new team best for the Dragons this season.
Monroe Area better keep an eye on Colton Grant. He was instrumental in Jefferson's win, rushing for 45 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Grant a new career-high in passer rating (137.5). Another big playmaker for Jefferson was Dalton Dye, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Monroe Area's record is now 5-1. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at an identical 5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Monroe Area has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 438 total yards per game. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've been averaging only 227.2 total yards. Will Monroe Area be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Dragons flip the script?
Monroe Area might still be hurting after the 38-14 defeat they got from Jefferson in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Purple Hurricanes, Gavin Markey (who rushed for 207 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 144 yards and two TDs on only 13 passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
