The Charlotte Latin Hawks will take on the Carmel Christian Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Charlotte Latin comes in on three and Carmel Christian on five.
Charlotte Latin had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Union Academy on Wednesday. Charlotte Latin's pitcher stepped up to hand Union Academy an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won three contests by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Avery Booker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Luka Kadijevic and Hudson Shoup did most of the damage at the plate: Kadijevic scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Shoup scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5. Shoup is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jaden Hawa also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Carmel Christian duked it out with Asheville Christian Academy on Thursday. Carmel Christian put the hurt on Asheville Christian Academy with a sharp 8-2 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
Anderson Rider tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
At the plate, Carmel Christian got a big performance out of Nate Trunck, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Thomas Gaddy, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Carmel Christian pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte Latin, their record now sits at 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Charlotte Latin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carmel Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Charlotte Latin's way against Carmel Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Charlotte Latin made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Charlotte Latin since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
