The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Swansea Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lower Richland has five straight wins, Swansea has 15 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Lower Richland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Gilbert 70-39 at home. Given Lower Richland's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Gilbert is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Swansea suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 81-35 loss at the hands of Orangeburg-Wilkinson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Swansea in their matchups with Orangeburg-Wilkinson: they've now lost seven in a row.
