Softball Recap: Champion Has No Trouble Against Crestview

Champion won against Crestview on Monday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Golden Flashes were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Rebels. Considering the Golden Flashes have won nine games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Gabrielle Gradishar was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Ava Sylvester was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Maddison Sylvester also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Champion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crestview only posted an OBP of .158.

The victory made it two in a row for Champion and bumps their season record up to 11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Crestview, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-5-1.

Looking ahead, Champion will head out on the road to take on Lakeview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Crestview, they will be playing at home against Poland Seminary at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Rebels surely won't give up without a fight.
