After both having extra time off, the Paxton Bobcats and the South Walton Seahawks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Paxton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Paxton was able to grind out a solid victory over Cottondale, taking the game 7-4.
Ryleigh Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Taylor Phillips, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Dani Thompson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, South Walton hadn't done well against Walton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Tuesday. South Walton put the hurt on Walton with a sharp 11-4 win.
South Walton also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: McKenzie Reiter gave up four earned runs on eight hits. Reiter has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Zoey Kreinus was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Tatum Kreinus, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
South Walton lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Paxton's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for South Walton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Paxton might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from South Walton when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Paxton have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
