CUMBERLAND GAP, Tenn. -
Cumberland Gap (Tenn.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Blake Franklin ran for a touchdown with 9:00 remaining, bringing the team to victory over
Grainger (Rutledge, Tenn.) 47-42.
The Grizzlies pulled ahead on a rushing touchdown, and subsequently went into halftime leading 21-14. The Panthers took the lead for good with a touchdown run by Franklin in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring 13 points in the third, Cumberland Gap still trailed by 6 points going into the fourth quarter. But 20 points in the fourth helped CG pull out the victory.
Wesley Nance played well for the Panthers in the victory. The senior wide receiver ran for four touchdowns. He has now scored seven touchdowns on the season.
Cumberland Gap also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 14-7.
