Volleyball Recap: Gering's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of four wins, Gering's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Scottsbluff Bearcats by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bearcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Gering wouldn't go down easily and took Scottsbluff into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-19, 25-27, 15-25, 15-13.

Jacey Cochran paced Gering's offense, picking up 24 kills. Cochran got some help from Aubrey Anderson and her 42 assists. Cochran also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Adriana Canales, each putting up three.

Gering's defeat dropped their record down to 26-8. As for Scottsbluff, they pushed their record up to 19-16 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Gering has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Mercy on the 30th. As for Scottsbluff, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Seward on the 30th.
