The Grasso Tech Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Lyman Memorial by a score of 57-50. For Grasso Tech, this counts as revenge for the 66-36 defeat Lyman Memorial walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Grasso Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charis Johnson led the charge by scoring 11 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Johnson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Stavesky, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Grasso Tech's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Lyman Memorial, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Grasso Tech won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Norwich RVT at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Norwich RVT is ranked 162nd, while Grasso Tech is ranked 141st). Lyman Memorial's road trip will continue as they head out to face Montville at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
