Even though the Douglas Tigers scored an imposing 73 points on Friday, the Reed Raiders still came out on top. Reed snuck past Douglas with a 77-73 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Reed.
Tj Coulter was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 43 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Giosue Gaeta, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Douglas lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jett Lehmann. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Caden Thacker was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Douglas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Reed only pulled down three offensive rebounds.
Reed is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Douglas, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-14.
Reed will head out on the road to take on McQueen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully McQueen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Douglas, they will be playing at home against Reno at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Reno will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
