Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wesley Chapel). They walked away with a 93-83 victory over the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls on Friday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Wildcats were down 63-46 in the third quarter.
Wesley Chapel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Hicks, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and ten boards. The matchup was Hicks' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sian Morris, who went 9 of 15 en route to 24 points and six assists.
Wesley Chapel was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wiregrass Ranch only racked up nine assists.
Several Bulls players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kj Smith, who posted 26 points in addition to six assists and three blocks. That's the most blocks Smith has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Donovan Gaines, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds.
Wesley Chapel has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.2 points per game. As for Wiregrass Ranch, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.
