South Beloit is a perfect 10-0 against Alden-Hebron since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Sobos will head out on the road to take on the Green Giants at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Beloit has five straight victories, Alden-Hebron has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
South Beloit proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 11) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Ashton-Franklin Center 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sobos have posted since April 8, 2024.
Whitney Schnack made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Annabelle Dascher and Macey Lineman did most of the damage at the plate: Dascher scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Lineman scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Lineman a new career-high in doubles (two). Taniyah Crawford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
South Beloit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Alden-Hebron came up short against Christian Liberty on Thursday and fell 16-12. Even if the Green Giants couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Hayden Smith and Madison Mayerck stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Mayerck scored four runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Brooke Slepcevich, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
South Beloit now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Alden-Hebron, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went South Beloit's way against Alden-Hebron when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as South Beloit made off with a 23-8 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sobos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
