The Liberty Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Shadow Ridge Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Thursday, Liberty faced Silverado in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Liberty simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Silverado 48-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Liberty, who have now won four games by 34 points or more so far this season.
Tyrese Smith went supernova for Liberty, throwing for 140 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Iwamuro, who picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Shadow Ridge had just enough and edged Arbor View out 17-14 on Thursday.
Shadow Ridge can attribute much of their success to Coen Coloma, who rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns.
Shadow Ridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Aaron Coverdell and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Liberty to 9-2 and Shadow Ridge to 6-4.
Liberty skirted past Shadow Ridge 35-32 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will Liberty repeat their success, or does Shadow Ridge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
