The Mountain View Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Patriot 14-13. Given Mountain View's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Patriot is ranked 56th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Although Patriot took the loss, they still got scores from Jackson Mccarter and Colton Kershaw.
Mountain View's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-1 Colonial Forge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.8% over those games). As for Patriot, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will face off against North Stafford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Stafford comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Patriot, they will head out on the road to face off against Gar-Field at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
