Softball Recap: Downey's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Mayfair last Thursday, Downey came back down to earth. Downey fell 8-3 to the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders on Friday. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Downey saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hazel Renteria, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Downey's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Granada Hills Charter, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Downey will square off against La Mirada at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. La Mirada will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Downey surely won't give up without a fight. As for Granada Hills Charter, they are taking a road trip to face off against North at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
