The Cannelton Bulldogs suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Lighthouse Christian Academy, falling 68-34. Cannelton's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Cannelton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kylie Anastasiades, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Little, who scored nine points.
Cannelton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lighthouse Christian Academy pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.
Lighthouse Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Ellie mae Winders, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. Another player making a difference was Jane Holdeman, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Cannelton's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Lighthouse Christian Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cannelton will take on Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lighthouse Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasant View Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
