B District 4 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Weleetka was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to sixth in B District 4 (8 Man). Earlier in the week, the Outlaws triumphed over the Outlaws 36-34.
Wetumka extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cave Springs, 72-22. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Strother's dynamic duo of Sawyer Marquis and Kaleb Kerley proved tough for Keota to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Marquis threw for 162 yards and one touchdown and Kerley had 94 yards receiving. Zane Ter Wee helped Strother's passing attack out by catching four balls for 68 yards.
Matt Miller provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Davenport defeated Weleetka. He completed 12 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 108 yards. Miller's favorite target this week was KC Funk, who caught three passes for 77 yards.
Davenport's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Miller has thrown for 876 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Kevin Thomas has 22 catches for 404 yards. Miller also leads the league in rushing with 435 yards.
The marquee game in B District 4 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Dewar and the Bulldogs. The Dragons enters the contest ranked ninth in the state, while Davenport ranks 16th.
Wetumka took down Cave Springs 72-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.
