Basketball Recap: Blanche Ely Takes a Loss

Blanche Ely has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 29.83 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Palm Beach Gardens Gators. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Blanche Ely's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiya Dennis, who went 6 of 9 en route to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Dennis a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Trezure Reese, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Latasha Whyte continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palm Beach Gardens, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Whyte is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Darudine Dejadin, who posted 11 points.

Blanche Ely's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Blanche Ely didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-23 victory against Cypress Bay on the 8th. As for Palm Beach Gardens, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-40 win against Coral Springs on the 3rd.
