West Aurora and the Tigers are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The West Aurora Blackhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Plainfield North Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, West Aurora suffered a tough 58-37 defeat at the hands of the Dukes & Duchesses. While losing is never fun, West Aurora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Dukes & Duchesses are ranked 93rd).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shiane Johnson, who scored eight points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Evans, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Plainfield North's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 54-43 to Romeoville.
West Aurora has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for Plainfield North, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.
West Aurora was able to grind out a solid victory over the Tigers in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 46-38. Will West Aurora repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
