If the Holy Child Gryphons were feeling good off their 66-44 takedown of the Winsor Wildcats back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Holy Child took a serious blow against Suffield Academy on Wednesday, falling 58-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holy Child has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Holy Child saw an underclassman step up: Sofia Verlezza scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessia Paladino, who scored five points.
Holy Child's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Suffield Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Holy Child will take on Hackley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Suffield Academy, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Williston Northampton at 4:00 p.m. on January 10th.
