There's no place like home for the Manteca Buffaloes, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 61-49 win over Sierra on Wednesday. Given Manteca's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while Sierra is ranked 488th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Manteca had a senior duo take command as Evani Gaeta scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and six assists and Peyton Nieman scored 16 points. Gaeta is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Santiago Sanders, who scored six points.
Manteca's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Sierra, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Central Catholic the next time they take the court. Sierra will host Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Manteca will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
