The Cardinal Mooney Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Harding Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cardinal Mooney has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Monday, it was a hard-fought match, but Cardinal Mooney had to settle for a 51-48 defeat against John F. Kennedy Catholic. While losing is never fun, Cardinal Mooney can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 630th, while John F. Kennedy Catholic is ranked 110th).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Harding's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of East by a score of 44-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Akeelha Barnes, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nadia Mcqueen, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Cardinal Mooney's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Harding, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Cardinal Mooney took their victory against Harding when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 43-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cardinal Mooney since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
