The Chico Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Collinsville, falling 61-7. While losing is never fun, Chico can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1165th, while Collinsville is ranked 322nd).
It was another big night for Logan Jenkins, who threw for 483 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last seven games he's played. Carter Scott was another key contributor, picking up 177 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Chico's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 1.8 points per game. As for Collinsville, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Chico does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Collinsville will be playing at home against Archer City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archer City is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
