The Los Angeles Romans will head out on the road to challenge the Manual Arts Toilers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Los Angeles came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Jefferson, posting a 69-23 victory on the road. Given Los Angeles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 695th, while the Democrats are ranked 1408th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Manual Arts entered their tilt with the Huskies with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Manual Arts blew past the Huskies 95-60 on the road on Wednesday. Manual Arts pushed the score to 74-45 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies had little chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manual Arts to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Moody, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. Moody hasn't dropped below 18 points for 18 straight games. Songhai Glover was another key contributor, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Los Angeles is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Manual Arts, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-2.
Los Angeles was dealt a bruising 75-41 loss at the hands of the Toilers in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can Los Angeles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
