The Agua Dulce Longhorns waltzed into Friday's matchup with six straight wins but they left with seven. They came out on top against Bruni by a score of 41-30. For Agua Dulce, this counts as revenge for the 48-20 defeat Bruni walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
Agua Dulce found their leader in underclassman Bryan King, who rushed for 236 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Despite the loss, Bruni still got an impressive performance from Albert Esquivel, who rushed for 301 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 17.7 yards per carry, and also threw for 70 yards and a touchdown. Esquivel's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Aiden Favella was another key contributor, gaining 102 total yards and a touchdown.
Agua Dulce's win was their fifth straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.4 points per game. As for Bruni, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.
Agua Dulce is on the road again on Friday and play against Center Point at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Center Point is ranked 1070th, while Agua Dulce is ranked 1049th). As for Bruni, they will head out on the road to face off against Sabinal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
