Baseball Recap: Alhambra Wins Going Away Against Central

Alhambra's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Central Bobcats 26-0. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Christopher Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Emiliano Ramos Paco was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Alhambra is undefeated when Ramos Paco posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Alan Ledon was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Alhambra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only posted an OBP of .143.

Alhambra is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. Central is on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Alhambra will have a chance to go back-to-back against Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
