Make it eight blowout wins for the Madison Trojans this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Gateway Charter Academy 88-53 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Madison sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Phillip Thomas, who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Reece, Jr, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Gateway Charter Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Prince Rider, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Khing Williams who scored nine points along with ten assists and seven rebounds. Rider hasn't dropped below two blocks for 11 straight games. Patrick Burnley was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Madison has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Gateway Charter Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Madison will look to defend their home court on Friday against Village Tech at 7:30 p.m. Village Tech will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1163rd, while Madison is ranked 498th). As for Gateway Charter Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against A Plus Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. A Plus Academy is on a four-game streak of home losses, Gateway Charter Academy a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
