The Northridge Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Beaver Beavers at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. Northridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Northridge gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Altamont. The win was some much needed relief for the Knights as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Madisyn Lecour, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaybree Nay, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Beaver had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past the Bobcats 15-4. Considering the Beavers have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Beaver also got a great performance from Braylee Carter as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Danzee Bradshaw was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Tylee Marshall was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Beaver was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Northridge's record now sits at 2-3. As for Beaver, their record is now 7-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Northridge hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Beaver struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
