Baseball Recap: Dewey Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sperry

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dewey). They came out on top against the Sperry Pirates by a score of 16-13 on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Bulldoggers: when they faced off against the Pirates last Monday, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

Easton Davis and Jay Murguia did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went 3-for-4 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Murguia scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Murguia has posted since back in March. Chase Miller also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dewey hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive games.

Dewey has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Sperry, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Dewey will head out to take on Tulsa NOAH HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sperry, they will face off against Dewar at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their 25th straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
