The Tyngsborough Tigers will be playing at home against the Clinton Gaels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tyngsborough will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
After soaring to 44 points the game before, Tyngsborough were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 42-7 loss at the hands of West Boylston/Tahanto. Tyngsborough was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.
Meanwhile, Clinton took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 60-28 victory over Lunenburg. The result was nothing new for Clinton, who have now won three matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Clinton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gel a Lopez out in front who rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Taetum Cassella, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Clinton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Connor Cox and his two sacks.
With Tyngsborough's defeat and Clinton's victory, both teams now sport identical 4-2 records.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Tyngsborough has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clinton struggles in that department as they've been even better at 261.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Tyngsborough took a serious blow against Clinton in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 47-14. Thankfully for Tyngsborough, Alex Chouinard (who rushed for 189 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
