Tri-Valley and Eldred are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Bears will host the Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tri-Valley is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Tri-Valley fell victim to Chapel Field Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 11-0.
Meanwhile, Eldred can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Rockland Central by a score of 9-4. The Yellowjackets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Evan Zgrodek was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Eldred: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 0-7 otherwise. Zgrodek was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Tice, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jacob Tice, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Tri-Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Eldred, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tri-Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eldred struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tri-Valley beat Eldred 6-2 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
