The Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks are taking a road trip to square off against the Florida Christian Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Archbishop McCarthy barely beat West Boca Raton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mavericks blew past the Bulls 15-2 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now won five in a row.
Sienna Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lydia Springer was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Alexis Nightingale was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Archbishop McCarthy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .588. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, while Florida Christian put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Miami Country Day. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Spartans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Shaun Fernandez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Fernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Emma Medina was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kayla Diaz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Archbishop McCarthy pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Florida Christian, their record is now 13-6.
Both Archbishop McCarthy and Florida Christian just can't seem to miss. The Mavericks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Florida Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Archbishop McCarthy's way against Florida Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2020, as Archbishop McCarthy made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
