The Jefferson Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Robinson, falling 77-22. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson in their matchups with Robinson: they've now lost seven in a row.
Robinson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Natalie Ashburn, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Ashburn has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Godfrey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.
Jefferson bumped their record down to 2-10 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.2 points per game. As for Robinson, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Jefferson and Alonso will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Alonso is ranked 518th, while Jefferson is ranked 534th). Robinson will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Gulf at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Gulf has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
