Baseball Game Preview: Arnold Marlins vs. Clay Blue Devils

The Arnold Marlins will face off against the Clay Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Arnold 2.7, Clay 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Arnold is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Choctawhatchee. The result was nothing new for the Marlins, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Austin Hendrix was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Bean, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Clay had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Gators by a score of 6-2.

Levi Chmura made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Chmura was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Carnell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. LJ Martin was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Arnold has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Clay, they pushed their record up to 22-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Arnold skirted past Clay 2-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Do the Marlins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
