The Show Low Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 24 points or more this season. They blew past Payson 46-22. Given Show Low's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Payson is ranked 67th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Show Low got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Raquel Wilson out in front who scored 16 points along with three steals. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrie Wilson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Payson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lizzy White, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds. White is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Show Low's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Payson, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Show Low will square off against Holbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Payson, they will head out on the road to face off against Snowflake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
