Geneva is 8-2 against Jefferson Area since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Geneva Eagles will be playing at home against the Jefferson Area Falcons at 2:15 p.m. Hopefully Geneva is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Ohio (they are ranked 167th, while Jefferson Area is ranked 418th).
After a string of three wins, Geneva's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 40-33 to Perry. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Geneva has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Area got the win against Harvey on Wednesday by a conclusive 42-21. Jefferson Area pushed the score to 36-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Harvey cut but never quite recovered from.
Jefferson Area's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danielle Furman, who scored 13 points along with three steals, and Mia Contenza, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Furman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kennidie Rogers, who scored two points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Geneva's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for Jefferson Area, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Geneva was able to grind out a solid win over Jefferson Area in their previous meeting back in January, winning 47-38. Will Geneva repeat their success, or does Jefferson Area have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
