Maple Mountain has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Timpview Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Maple Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
Maple Mountain struggled with assists on Friday (Orem had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Maple Mountain took a 68-54 bruising from Orem.
Despite their loss, Maple Mountain saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brogan Miles, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Merrell, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Timpview faced Orem in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Timpview took a hard 66-48 fall against Orem on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Timpview has scored all season.
Maple Mountain now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Timpview, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Maple Mountain came up short against Timpview when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 64-55. Thankfully for Maple Mountain, Truman Burningham (who scored 22 points along with eight assists and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
