Newport took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Harrisburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Newport Greyhounds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Harrisburg Hornets on Thursday. The two-run effort marked the Greyhounds' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The victory (which was Newport's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Harrisburg, they moved to 4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newport will be taking part in a tournament against Palestine-Wheatley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Newport has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Harrisburg, they will host Marked Tree at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
