Smith Center took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hoxie. Smith Center has not had much luck with Hoxie recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Smith Center had strong showings from Daveyon Orr, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and Tegan McKenzie, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. McKenzie has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Overmiller, who scored eight points.
Smith Center has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Hoxie, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Smith Center will head out on the road to face off against Hill City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Hill City's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Smith Center has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road. Hoxie will take on Russell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Russell is ranked 247th, while Hoxie is ranked 267th).
