Basketball Game Preview: Lake Pointe Academy Mariners vs. Greenville Classical Academy Lions

The Lake Pointe Academy Mariners will challenge the Greenville Classical Academy Lions at 7:50 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Pointe Academy has six straight victories, Greenville Classical Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Lake Pointe Academy humbled Union Christian Day with a 60-24 victory. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

Lake Pointe Academy had a senior duo take command as James Jacobs posted 16 points and Stewart Settle earned 13 points. The game was Jacobs' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Keagan Hiser was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Greenville Classical Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 76-51 to Bob Jones Academy. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Bob Jones Academy are ranked 125th).

Lake Pointe Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Greenville Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
