The Chagrin Falls Tigers kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to Madison.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Russell, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Bencko, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Chagrin Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Madison, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Chagrin Falls will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mayfield at 6:45 p.m. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
