After flying high against the Peninsula Catholic Knights last Tuesday, the Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints came back down to earth. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy took a serious blow against Norfolk Christian on Thursday, falling 69-15. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Nansemond-Suffolk Academy has scored all season.
It was another big night for Justice Brown-Jones, who scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and five steals for Norfolk Christian. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brown-Jones has scored at least a third of Norfolk Christian's points. Abuna Ruop was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Norfolk Christian, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will head out on the road to face off against Hampton Roads Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton Roads Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Virginia (Hampton Roads Academy is ranked 120th, while Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is ranked 362nd). As for Norfolk Christian, they will face off against Riverdale Baptist at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
