Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Augusta

While Augusta didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Buhler Crusaders by a score of 61-52 on Tuesday. Given the Orioles' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Crusaders are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Buhler's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Heredia, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Miller, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

The victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Buhler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Augusta has already played their next contest (against Circle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Buhler will take on Clearwater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Buhler is facing Clearwater at the right time seeing as Clearwater is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
