The West Bladen Knights will venture away from home to challenge the South View Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Bladen has five straight victories, South View has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
West Bladen saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against South Columbus by a score of 9-4.
The team relied heavily on Garrett Dunham, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyler Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Bladen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, South View suffered their biggest defeat since April 29, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against South Columbus, falling 21-3.
Brayden Moncrief was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
West Bladen pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for South View, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
South View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Bladen hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. It's a different story for South View, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain West Bladen's hitters?
West Bladen beat South View 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
