The Cortez Colts can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They claimed a resounding 67-32 win over Apache Junction on the road. The win was just what Cortez needed coming off of a 96-68 defeat in their prior matchup.
Leading Cortez to victory were Ulysses Espinoza and Devan Fowler. Espinoza scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Fowler went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 6 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fowler has scored at least a third of Cortez's points. Another player making a difference was Tylin Hunter, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Cortez is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for Apache Junction, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-18.
Cortez will take on the Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Apache Junction, they will head out on the road to face off against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
