The Chaputnguak Shaman lost against the Nelson Island Islanders last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chaputnguak took a serious blow against Nelson Island, falling 83-41. Chaputnguak was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.
Chaputnguak lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Felagai Laumea, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Matthew, who scored 13 points.
Nelson Island was led to victory by Zachary Angaiak and Brennan Lincoln. Angaiak scored 24 points, while Lincoln scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Angaiak has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Charles Maxie, who scored 12 points.
Chaputnguak's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Nelson Island, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chaputnguak and Aniak will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aniak has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 342 points over their last four matches. As for Nelson Island, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Non Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Nelson Island is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 73.6 points per game this season.
