The Palmview Lobos will square off against the Mission Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Palmview 1.4, Mission 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Palmview took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Mission Veterans Memorial get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Lobos have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Abigail Cantu was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yailyn Trevino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Marina Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Palmview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mission Veterans Memorial only posted an OBP of .158.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Mission's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Roma by a score of 8-7.
Maddie Garcia and Breanna Longoria stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garcia went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double, while Longoria went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Palmview's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Mission, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-4.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmview hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .430. However, it's not like Mission struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmview couldn't quite get it done against Mission in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 9-5. Will the Lobos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
