The Clinton Dark Horses will stay at home for another week and welcome the Nash Central Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Clinton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Nash Central likes a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, Clinton rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Stallions, posting a 42-7 win at home. Fans of Clinton have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Clinton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Josiah Robinson, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and Amaris Williams, who rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarius Pugh, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Nash Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-68 win over Hertford County. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
James Rodgers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 313 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. Rodgers really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another player making a difference was Javaris Jones, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry.
Clinton pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.13 points. As for Nash Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Clinton and Nash Central have no problem gaining yardage. Clinton has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 426.4 total yards per game. However, it's not like Nash Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 353.9 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
