Basketball Recap: Sahuaro Beats Desert View for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Sahuaro had won five straight games and Carly Coolidge did her part to make it six on Saturday. The Sahuaro Cougars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Desert View Jaguars 52-18 thanks in part to Coolidge, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Biale Sika was another key player, going 5 for 11 on her way to 10 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in November.

Sahuaro has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for Desert View, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Sahuaro is on the road again on Saturday to play Cienega at 11:00 a.m. Cienega is coming into the match with four straight victories at home, so Sahuaro will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Desert View, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Catalina at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Desert View is facing Catalina at the right time seeing as Catalina is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
